Carlton Italian School Food Tour

Italian Melbourne School Food Tour

Book an Italian school food tour and learn about one of the strongest culinary histories in all of Melbourne.

Today the heart of Italian food beats strongly in Melbourne. Your guide will lead guests along this famous foodie strip to meet the storekeepers, taste their specialties and learn our foodie history, stories and architecture.

Start off this cultural tour with the perfect expresso from Pellegrini’s, the cafe was originally patronised primarily by the Italian migrant community but soon became a popular spot for ‘theatre people, intellectuals and, eventually, tourists’.

We then head to the Spring Street Grocer for Parmigiano and Mozzarella followed by Italian artisan gelato from Primavera Gelateria.

Next, explore the historic arcades of Melbourne and visit the Beechworth Honey Store for the sweetest tastings and an opportunity to learn about the importance of bees in our food systems.

We finally visit the Brunetti Food Store to enjoy some of their authentic ricotta filled cannoli.

This for provides up to 14 students or teachers to attend. Extra students or teachers are $65 pp.
All tours require pre-payment to secure the event.

Tour meets at the corner of Swanston Street and Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD. (Alongside the State Library building)
This tour is on foot and takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
We recommend guests wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the weather on the day.

We cater for special dietary needs and can add or remove parts of the itinery. Tastings are subject to change.

Each of our guides have current Working With Children Checks.

Great fun, lovely people, and fantastic food. Don’t snack before you will have more than enough delicious food to eat. Wonderful experience and a “MUST DO” FOR ALL FOODIES!

What a fantastic day. Allan was so informative ,showed us lots of little places I never knew existed. The spice shop was great,as was the Indian food we got to sample. Highly recommend this tour.

I would highly recommend Melbourne Food Experiences – the tour was fun and informative, the food was delicious, and they catered for my dietary requirements.
