8 of the Best Coffee Hot Spots in Melbourne

As Melbournians, we are passionate about coffee, and guests on our tours regularly comment on how many outstanding coffee outlets there are in Melbourne churning out lattes and flat whites.

It’s not easy selecting the best coffee in town, but we’ve happily done our research with all our guests, selecting the best of the best, downing cup after cup of the good stuff.

Here are our picks on a couple of Melbourne’s very best coffee spots.

Market Lane Coffee at the Queen Victoria Market is one to drop by to indulge in this brew whether it is an espresso or a hot/cold filtered coffee. The team is flat out doing what they do best – pumping out specialty coffee.

Dukes Coffee in Flinders Lane is the city hot spot for amazing coffee! They certainly define Melbourne’s coffee status. You can also indulge in a selection of pastries with your speciality brew.

Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters in Carlton, is always a wonderful place to drop in for a coffee. It never matters when you go in, morning or afternoon, the service, the staff and of course the coffee is always second to none. Our guests love to be able to see the roastery at work whether it is with the fabulous house blend or one of the many single origin beans.

The Vertue Of The Coffee Drink is a Carlton coffee lover’s paradise. Sitting in pride of place just back from Lygon Street, this converted stables showcases an outstanding array of single origin coffees. A substantial cafe takes pride of place alongside the on-site roaster. As you’d expect, pour overs and other speciality coffee favourites are all available.

Brunetti is the place when you need an Italian style espresso hit. There are a number of locations, with Lygon Street Carlton and Flinders Lane the major outlets. Along with coffee there is a huge array of pastries and desserts to also enjoy.

City Wine Store, as its name suggests, is a specialist wine outlet. But they also serve up speciality coffee. It’s a good, gutsy brew here made all the better with a delicious ‘creama’ and in a perfectly warmed cup. Try and see if you agree with us!

Tulip Coffee is situated in Degraves Street amongst a raft of cafes and caffeine outlets. It stands head and shoulders above its rivals with consistently great coffee, and a warm welcome. This store is tiny, so keep your eyes peeled for the peach and white Tulip Coffee sign!

We visit these coffee places on our Melbourne Tours, check them out online here.
